Sunday is grocery shopping day in our house. I often have people ask how we can afford to by organic with a family of 4. While I would love to have every grocery item be organic, it’s not a reality. I select my organic produce items based on the data from the EWG “Dirty Dozen” shopping guide.
The EWG (Environmental Working Group) created a list of the most toxic fruits and vegetables based on a extensive study. The fruits and vegetables on the Dirty Dozen™ list, when conventionally grown, tested positive for at least 47 different chemicals, with some testing positive for as many as 67. For produce on the “dirty” list, you should definitely go organic — unless you relish the idea of consuming!
